Hi there, thanks for your interest.

My name is Nirvana Rose Watkins.  I am an early career secondary English teacher in Victoria, Australia.

This blog is about my efforts to be and become a compassionate and mindful human being, educator, life-partner, and creative soul, caring for the earth and those around me.

I currently take classes at grade levels 7, 8 and 12.

  • The year 7 class is an integrated English/Humanities/Pastoral group.
  • The year 8 class is part of my school’s Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) program.
  • The year 12 class are undertaking VCE Units 3 and 4 in 2008. The texts they are studying include Inheritance (Hannie Rayson); In the Lake of the Woods (Tim O’Brien); and Jindabyne (film) and Fly Away Peter (David Malouf) in response to the context The Imaginative Landscape.

My interests include general literature, visual literacy and graphic novels, integrating web 2.0 technologies, social justice, the environment and human rights.

I live by the beach with my husband and two whippets and enjoy outdoor activities, especially surfing, hiking and camping.
